Bio

Turntables: Technics SL1210's, Mixers: Vestax VCM-600, Akai APC-40 Software: NI Traktor Scratch Pro, Ableton, Peak Le A Little bit of soulful, a little bit of deep, some bangers, and can't forget the classics! So who is this guy calling himself Mista_Iqbal anywayz… Good question, but before I try to answer how I like to see myself I first would like to take theopportunity to thank you for your interest in me and/or the music I love to mix. So hereby… tnx! Now thats done let me go back to the question… I love music. All kinds of music, varying fromJazz to Drum 'n Bass, Hip hop to Soulful House, Bossa Nova to Breakbeat and back again. I like to consider each musical piece as an expression of emotion by the artist. And as long this is done well I like to think the piece is good music. Its like food (one of my other hobbies). Themeal can be made excellent, but you may have to get used to the taste first to appreciate it. Sowhen I started collecting music I really took my time trying to understand the sounds used inthe expression. This left me boundless to a music genre and I like to keep it that way. So whenI mix I love to find the edges where emotion and sound of different genres meet each other andI find this most in the non mainstream genres and their related scenes. Therefore for most of my mixes think of the follwing ancient chinese saying: "Listen twice before you play ;0):" My Musical Influences: There are a lot of artist that I really appreciateBut the most influential for my DJ-ing were: Masters at Work: Kenny Dope: hip hop to garage he can do it all, Louis Vega proving the eclectic sound is possible in house. This dynamic duo understand true sounds of genres and show it in their mixes. Also I once witnessed them mixing back2back with 6 decks spinning, something I still can not comprehend.. DJ Q-Bert: his cutting 'n scratching is phenomonal, 3 times DMC World Champion and because of that expelled from further competition, how sick is that story!? Ben Liebrand:his Turn Up The Bass megamixes...
